Habits that calm a noisy forecast meeting
A weekly forecast call does not need more slides. It needs a repeatable order of questions and permission to park dormant deals.
Forecast meetings go long when every seller narrates every opportunity from memory. Managers then chase close dates instead of stage evidence. The fix is usually behavioural, not another spreadsheet column.
Open with movement, not totals
Start with deals that changed stage since last week. Totals can wait. Movement reveals whether the process is alive.
Ask for the next buyer action
Each discussed deal should end with a dated action the buyer — not the seller — will take. If the only next step is “follow up,” the deal is not being managed.
Create a parking lot
Dormant pursuits clog the room. Agree a parking category with a review date. Sellers should not fear moving a deal there; fear is what keeps ghost opportunities in Commit.
Time-box deep dives
One strategic bid may deserve fifteen minutes. The rest should not. Use a separate deal review when a pursuit needs a longer facilitated session.
